Before we left the Big Brother (BB) house on Thursday night, Julie Chen Moonves informed us about the Pharaoh's Curse that will see somebody’s game come to an end on Wednesday’s episode. The houseguest would find out about the twist through BB27 runner-up Vinny Panaro, who apparently used the house time machine to steal jewelry from the pharaoh’s tomb. Along with the twist came the opportunity for a houseguest to earn $10,000 or for each individual houseguest to earn $1,000, depending on how many people pushed this mystery button that was standing in each room in the house.

Drew, Taylor, and Dee thought the money was too good to be true while Melody and Devens said, “You got to risk it for the biscuit.” Devens pushed the button first, secretly awarding him the 10K because “kids aren’t cheap!”

And after being awake for more than 24 hours, enduring a double eviction which saw Taylor campaign as hard as she’s ever had in the game to keep her ride or die in Yash, Taylor, Drew, Devens, and Dee, competed in the iconic tiny puzzle stacking comp for the head of household (HOH), which was ultimately won by Devens after four-plus hours of maneuvering the tiny puzzle pieces with giant tweezers. 

With Devens in power, it’s pretty clear Melody, the outgoing HOH, is going on the block. Devens’ dilemma is: If he puts up Taylor, and Drew wins the veto and takes down Melody, Dee would have to go up as a re-nom. If he puts up Drew, it’s very likely noms would stay the same, or Taylor goes up in either Melody or Drew’s place.

Drew makes his pitch to Devens very clear: He has given him everything in this game. He has given him information when he could have kept it to himself. He wants to go to the final three with two Survivor icons. He is a fan of the show. After everything they’ve been through, don’t mess it up by putting him and Melody on the block together. He’ll throw the veto comp if that’s what it takes.

In the end, this is where the episode leaves off. Come Wednesday, following the premiere of Survivor 51, we will have nominations made, a veto comp played, and an eviction take place.

Non spoiler thoughts

  • I am wondering how much Melody considered putting up Drew over Yash to guarantee an icon went home. It didn’t seem like much. As much as she’s talked about wanting to not see the icons make it this far in the game, it seems like she was blinded by Yash’s ability to potentially win out, as was Drew, and at the end of the day, Melody somewhat has a relationship with Dee, and Drew has a relationship with Devens. Neither of them had any relationship with Yash, which is why I think Melody was okay with Drew evicting Yash over the Survivor 45 winner.
  • Does Devens want to take Dee and Drew with him to the final three and Drew to final two? 
  • Taylor is the most likely to go at five. If that happens, the game comes down to two duos: One who has always been on the same page in Dee and Devens and one who has never been on the same page in a game sense in Melody and Drew.
  • We needed more of THE LIP Vinny Panaro on our screen! He was my favorite houseguest from last season.
