Rising Japanese rap duo DJ Matsunaga and rapper R-Shitei, performing together under the name Creepy Nuts, are celebrating 13 years together. While they have only recently become super hot on the Japanese Billboard charts, they are also incredibly popular here in America.

This year, they finally came to America, performing at Coachella and playing two shows outside of the festival. The one I attended was sold out in New York City, and it was a beautiful sight. Their next stop was in Chicago, then Coachella again for the second weekend.

What brought them to America? They began slow and steady, doing random projects with a name they carried because they never thought they would become famous. However, the anime Call of the Night came out and exposed Americans to their music. Songs like “Daten,” “Yofushika no Uta,” and “Losstime” all fill the anime and immediately became hits.

Then their next hit came out for the anime Mashle. The song “Bling Bang Bang Born” became popular and even had a cute dance. It is a sensational song amongst the anime community here in America.

So now fans are digging into their background of older songs when another huge anime opener is done by Creepy Nuts, and that song is called “Otonoke” for Dandadan.

They are an incredible pop rap duo that I believe have an incredible future not only in anime openers but also as performers. They are incredible entertainers. They just released their brand new song called “Fright.” You should definitely check it out!
