Dry Cleaning made a stop in Philadelphia this past Wednesday as part of their Secret Love tour spanning across the United States and Canada this month. The tour is in support of their latest album of the same name, Secret Love, released on January 9. The band was joined by opener YHWH Nailgun, an experimental rock quartet from New York City.
Dry Cleaning is made up of vocalist Florence Shaw, bassist Lewis Maynard, guitarist Tom Dowse, and drummer/saxophonist Nick Buxton. Teaming up with musician and producer Cate Le Bon, Secret Love marked considerable growth from their previous record, Stumpwork, released in 2022. Florence Shaw shines both lyrically and vocally, as the record features more passages of sung choruses in contrast to the typical spoken-word, talk-singing style found throughout much of the band’s discography. Coupled with the synergistic influence of the record’s producer, Cate Le Bon, Secret Love strikes a balance between the unique musicality both bring to the table.
The Secret Love tour is still underway, so don’t miss your chance to see Dry Cleaning on the road. View all tour dates and ticket info on the band’s website, and be sure to check out the photo gallery for a glimpse into our time at the Philadelphia stop.
