When the premiere of Big Brother Season 27 aired in July, it was my first time watching the show that doesn’t begin until the houseguests move in, and as I wrote in my initial review, I liked the show, but it felt like there was more meat on the bone.
Boy, was there ever when the show got going!
As we sit here today, on Sept. 29, 2025, I am sad Big Brother 27 has came to its conclusion, as I grew to LOVE this show.
In my initial review, I said I wasn’t sure if I was going to be a live feeds watcher or not. It depended on the week, but especially as the season moved along, I found myself watching feeds more. I must be a sucker for reality TV drama because this season had a lot of it!
It started in Week 2 when Jimmy tried to publicly target Keanu, and Keanu made it known to the houseguests he was going to take down each one of them one by one. As the season went on, Keanu would have a frenemy relationship with Season 13 winner Rachel Riley, who returned to the Big Brother House for the first time since winning the game and caused drama throughout the whole house.
This list of individuals that played Big Brother 27 brought a lot of charisma and different backgrounds to the table. Keanu was impossible not to root for with his personality and him calling his shot Week 2. Will was a happy-go-lucky middle-aged man who was like a father figure in the house, Ava brought out her quirky personality as a painter on the streets of New York, Kelly brought her “farm kid grit” to the house, as she tried her best to create drama and Rachel tried to prove she could win the season in the New Era. However, there was no better drama this season than the relationship between Vince and Morgan.
Vince made himself a favorite of mine from episode one, winning the first Head of Household (HOH) competition and making his strategy well-known. Vince tried locking in a Final 2 with anybody and anyone he could and play the middle. His strategy was successful, but it got complicated when he started clearly hanging out and caring for Morgan, making her his No. 1 alli. When Vince and Morgan hooked up, Morgan was working with Ashley, Rachel and Will in the house, and the three of them formed The Judges alliance around Week 6 of the game. Vince and Morgan’s (maybe?) romantic relationship would become more controversial as the game grew on, with Vince potentially losing his girlfriend of seven years, Kelsey, over this potential relationship. Let’s just say their behavior some nights on feeds was not platonic.
Vince and Morgan’s relationship took an interesting turn when Vince’s No. 2, Lauren, who Vince made a Final 2 with on day one of the game, was targeting Morgan and vice versa. During Week 10 of the game, with Vince as HOH, and Morgan winning the Power of Veto, the later forced the former to put Lauren on the block, forcing Lauren to save herself in the Big Brother Blockbuster (which she did, then was dumped out on the double eviction on the same night).
As the season went on, even though their games were not always aligned, I found myself rooting for Vince and Keanu, and I learned Big Brother wasn’t necessarily about the challenges like Survivor, it was about the relationships and the drama, and these houseguests made the show thrilling. I had multiple nights of going to bed way past my bed time watching Morgan and Vince fight over who to put up on feeds.
Their relationship drama carried all the way to the end of the game, as ultimately a loss by Vince to Ashley in the final HOH competition might have cost both of them the game, as Ashley was able to knock off Morgan in part three of the competition, send her to the jury and use her lawyer skills to win over the jury by securing all six of the first jury votes, with Morgan being the only juror to vote for Vince in the end.
Ashley played a great social game and went from almost being evicted Week 1 by Vince due to her taking a two-hour shower in his HOH room (#showergate) to her and Vince sitting in the final two chairs, to Ashley taking Vince out by an overwhelming majority. That’s how you wrap up a season of storytelling!
Big Brother 27 made me want to apply for the show. Hopefully, you’ll see me competing in an HOH competition one day.
