When we last left the Big Brother (BB) house on Sunday, Dee and Angela were nominated for the first time this season. Even with Haley on the block next to them, the icons still felt like they were the targets this week, making the veto competition the most important of the season to date. The same could be true for Barrett, who wants to protect his Crossover alliance allies, Yash, who does not want to see an icon come off the block, and Melody, who after doing her duties as the Lady of the Latrine, does not want to see a fellow F.A.P. member (herself, Barrett, Drew, and Mallory) as a re-nom.
The six players participated in the classic OTEV competition, set on Sept. 26, 1950. Just like in the head of household (HOH) competition, Yash ousted Barrett to win the veto. With Yash at the helm, Kamu sees this as the perfect opportunity to take Dee out and solidifies a final two with the HOH. The boys’ goals is to use the alliances they’ve formed with Taylor and Devens to get them all the way to the end.
With Devens, he has a decision to make. He knows Dee is a competition beast. He watched her win Survivor 45. However, she has struggled in BB comps. While talking to Kamu, he realizes Dee is the target of the week, and Kamu is in Yash’s ear. Does he blow up his game and risk his safety by protecting his true No. 1 ally in his fellow Survivor 50 castaway by using the diamond power of veto to take her down and name the replacement nominee?
He ultimately decides to do so, but first, in an effort to protect himself and his one-and-only alliance, the Crossovers, moving forward, he gathers the Crossovers, as well as Melody and Mallory in the backyard the night before the veto ceremony. The seven combine F.A.P. and the Crossovers into the Moshpit, with the goal of targeting the two boys in the house who are seen as challenge beasts.
At the veto ceremony, when Yash attempts to close the veto meeting, Devens ushers what I’m sure will go down in BB history as an iconic line: “Yash, this veto ceremony is just getting started.”
He tells the tale of Survivor host Jeff Probst waking him up from a dream, telling him the fans sent him this gift for a power, and he must use it to save his Survivor teammate. With Dee down, Devens names the biggest threat in the house, Kamu, as the replacement nominee. Kamu goes to shake the hand of Dee, and she disses him in another iconic moment. Yash is perplexed. The icons are overjoyed. One of Haley or Kamu seem to be going down tonight.
Non spoiler thoughts
- If you did not watch this episode, this is one you need to. So many good moments! Angela’s reaction in the diary room (DR) to Dee telling her about Devens’ plan, to Yash’s reaction in DR after the veto ceremony. As the kids would say, cinema!
- Drew and Barrett have finally picked a home and that home is with the Moshpit. The icons want those seven to be the final seven, but we know how BB works!
- Yash winning HOH was bad for his game. He could have played an Ashley Hollis-esk game and went on the block Week 1 and laid low. Now, he had to show his hands, as I made the same argument for Lala last week.
- Ideally for the Moshpit, Kamu goes home this week. If Kamu stays, there’s a good chance he wins HOH and then it’s over for one of the icons, which is why using the power was such a risky move.
- But if Devens kept Dee on the block, if she didn’t win the blockbuster this week, she was headed home. He truly was in a tough spot.
- Dee and fellow Survivor player Cirie may be case studies to show most BB challenges are nothing like that island show!
- Mellody and Mallory, after initially being early targets in the game, now may be in the best position in the house.
