Going into the live eviction Thursday night, I don’t think the Survivor legend truly knew how much trouble he was in. There’s a reason he (stupidly!) volunteered himself for the block this week on Drew’s head of household (HOH): He was confident he had the votes for stay.

Devens is a fan of the show, so he should know better that pawns do indeed go home and over the course of the week, his fellow icons were getting wary of his relationship with Drew and Barrett and were seriously considering taking the shot if they had the chance.

In the end, the icon that is known for taking big risks was able to put four spheres in his tube just before Taylor in the blockbuster and save his game. By a vote of 4-2, Lala was evicted over the former, with Angela and Melody voting to keep this summer’s wall comp winner.

Devens may never know his closest allies were planning to evict him this week, and that’s okay. The question going into next week is how much longer can Barrett put up his charade that he is Crossover strong.

Lala setting the tone for the jury is an interesting development. We know her feelings towards the icons, but we also know she does respect what the Survivor players and Angela have brought to Big Brother (BB). Everyone knows if Taylor is in those final two chairs she is getting Lala’s vote, so how does that affect her game moving forward? 

Non spoiler thoughts

  • Is everything truly cool between the icons or are the cracks starting to show? The two Survivor players clearly do not want to take each other to the end.
  • With Drew no longer HOH, how will his GAME relationship with Melody be impacted?
  • Angela’s BB instincts are almost always on point. 
  • Is this the week the Crossovers finally blow up?!
  • Yash is in the most interesting position in the game. His path to the end just got harder with Devens coming back in the house. There’s a world where he is the next person to join Lala in the jury. The game moves so fast. One second, there’s a clear path to the end. The next, you’re out of the house.
