Coming into the veto episode, Big Brother (BB) teased us that we haven't seen the last of the “most explosive nomination ceremony in BB history!” That’s exactly where the episode begins, with Angela and Jason still going at each other. Rome and Haley also got into it, which Barrett came to Haley’s defense, causing LaTrice to cry at the dining room table. Rick Devens, everyone! Only that would happen during his head of household (HOH) week.

In the aftermath of the blowout, Rome comes up to the HOH room and tries to act cool towards Devens to make sure he is not a re-nom possibility. To solidify this plan even more, Rome and Lyric come up with a plan to “break up” and nobody in the house buys it.

As for the veto competition, Devens draws Barrett and Angela from the Toolshed alliance to play, guaranteeing a nom will come down, and Rome – the true target of the week – goes up. Devens ends up winning his own veto competition, a flower puzzle competition set in 1967. With the victory, Devens makes history, becoming the first reality tv personality to win a BB HOH competition, a BB veto competition, and a Survivor individual immunity challenge (Dee has not won a veto competition yet, and Cirie Fields did not win a BB HOH or veto competition during BB25).

Drew pitches Devens on taking down Melody, as he is playing both sides of the house well and his relationship with Melody is growing. Dee and Angela pitch to Devens to take down Lyric because if Rome doesn’t win the BB blockbuster, Lyric can become a number for them since she will no longer have the pickleball coach at her side. That’s the move Devens’ makes, as Rome, Jason, and Melody will battle in the BB Blockbuster tonight, with Rome not safe unless he wins the competition. If that happens, Jason will almost certainly be walking out the door of the BB house after 17 days. 

Non-spoiler thoughts

  • Angela won the battle with Jason at the nomination ceremony.
  • Haley earned my respect with how she stood up to Rome.
  • Rome and Lyric’s plan to “break up” wasn’t executed well at all, and there was no point in doing so. I think Rome was just in shock he went from being the king of the house to backdoored and on the block within 48 hours.
  • I personally would prefer Jason to go home as opposed to Rome. Both are unlikeable, in this writer’s opinion, but Jason is playing a way more messier game.
  • Speaking of messy games, Barrett and Drew playing the middle is going to come back and haunt them sooner than later. If Melody wins the BB blockbuster tonight, their cards will have to be shown, as they will have to make a decision to side with the Toolshed and evict Rome or send Jason out the front door.
  • As someone who is rooting for the legends’ side of the house, I am nervous for the next HOH competition.
