From the moment Survivor legend Rick Devens won the second head of household (HOH) competition of Big Brother 28, his target was Pickleball coach Rome. He put up his showmance, Lyric, as well as his friends Jason and Melody, and even though the nomination ceremony didn’t go as smooth as planned, the veto competition did. Lyric was taken down and her boytoy was put up in her place.

Before we get to the blockbuster, cracks are starting to show in the Toolshed alliance. Drew and Barrett feel like the lapdogs in the trios of Chuk, Kamu, and Hayley and Dee, Angela, and Devens. Drew is especially been spending more time with Melody, as Wednesday’s episode detailed. Melody winning blockbuster would have been the best television, as it would have forced Drew and Barrett -- who now have formed a Final 2 -- to make a decision on which side of the house they are on.

But alas, Jason got his stack of jewels in the right order, taking himself off the block and sending Rome out the door via a 12-1 vote, with the one vote from Melody coming from not Lyric, but Taylor, in an interesting game move from both parties involved.

As for Rome, he was so gracious about the opportunity to play BB. He feels more honored that the legend that is Rick Devens felt so threatened by Rome that he felt he needed to leave the house.

Moving forward, will Lyric honor her word with Devens and not come after him? Will her game turn around or will she soon follow her potential future husband out the front door?

Non-spoiler thoughts

  • I would have personally preferred Jason to go home as opposed to Rome, but the bottom line is Devens’ HOH was a success for his side of the house.
  • Everyone is starting to get paranoid about the time capsule, which revealing the possible punishments and powers on Unlocked may change voting moving forward.
  • The episode did not cover at all some new alliances forming and a controversy in the house around a towel.
  • Julie spent a lot more time on Rome’s interview than Ashley’s last week. Was there a reason for that?
