Sarah Smith - Point of No Return

New York-based pop artist Sarah Smith shares her new single, "Point of No Return." The dark electro-pop track pairs pulsing production with emotionally charged songwriting that explores desire, anxiety, and self-sabotage. At the center of "Point of No Return" is a damsel-in-distress performance built around the contradiction of wanting to be chosen and feel secure while instinctively resisting both. "I’m your favorite girl" opens each chorus, while "what do you want from me?" becomes the song’s most persistent refrain. Throughout the track, Smith splits herself into an “I” and a “she,” watching herself create the very situation she’s trying to escape. In doing so, she becomes both the person in distress and the one holding the weapon. "It’s a song for the anxious-avoidant girlies," Smith shares. "I'm drawn to big, nostalgic pop that can make sadness and anxiety feel cinematic and beautiful. I grew up on the Tumblr and recession-pop eras, and I love that melodramatic world-building, where escapism and anxiety can coexist."

WHY? - Pretend So Real

The first single from the album’s Oh Golly side, following the surprise release of the Yes Lord side last month, is a collaborative work between Nate and Yoni, who each contribute to the layered instrumentation featuring violin, guitars, stringed instruments, synths, samples, drums, and more. “Pretend So Real” also features harp by Victoria Lekson and production consultation by Ryan Olson (Poliça, Bon Iver) and WHY?’s Josiah Wolf. “‘Pretend So Real' is about continuing to build a life in your mind with your former someone, knowing they’ve all but forgotten you; a fantasy romance growing through the rubble of a long-abandoned real-life relationship,” explains Yoni Wolf.

The Howlers - D.R.I.V.E.

The Howlers have delivered one last hit of adrenaline ahead of their sophomore album Heavy, out October 9, with the release of their final single, “D.R.I.V.E.” The track caps off a huge run for the band, who have spent the past few months tearing through stages across the UK and Europe alongside Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, Deep Purple, and Wolfmother. The album Heavy was born from one of the darkest periods of frontman Adam Young's life: a prolonged health scare that brought him close to losing his life on multiple occasions, with no diagnosis, no answers, and medication that simply wasn't working.

Corella - Lost A Friend

Corella have released their highly anticipated sophomore album, A Beautiful World To Lose, featuring the recent single “Lost A Friend.” Produced by Grammy-winning Jason Perry (The Molotovs, McFly, Don Broco), the album buzzes with energy as Corella’s songwriting and musicianship are taken to grand new heights. The themes cover loss, heartbreak, and disillusionment, as the album tracks a generation’s frustration and apathy over the things that are out of their control.

Kid Bookie - Familiar (ft. Lady Leshur)

Kid Bookie recently debuted his new single "Familiar (ft. Lady Leshur)," taken from his forthcoming album Cheaper Than Therapy II. “Familiar” finds Bookie at his most exposed, trading some of his trademark aggression for a deeply human exploration of love, loss, and the dangerous comfort of becoming too familiar with someone. Set Your Goals - Big Couch

Set Your Goals is a Bay Area-based rock band whose pop-punk-meets-melodic-hardcore style earned them a place in the scene alongside bands like Lifetime, CIV, New Found Glory, the Movielife, and Saves the Day. Fresh off signing to In Bloom earlier this year, the band is excited to share its brand-new single “Big Couch.” Watch the new music video here. The band shares: “This song feels like the logical next step in the progression of our songwriting as a band. Stylistically, it is a bit of an outlier with a heavier dose of emotional content, which is also what makes it so special to us. The lyrics are about reaching an age where one finds oneself in the position of role model for younger people, grappling with the significance of one’s actions, and making an earnest effort not to let them down. Crafting this song was a communal effort, which included the sounds of some of the band’s and our producer Scott’s children playing. We even enlisted a few friends to help out with vocals on the last chorus, including Scott’s wife, Ashley.”

Smush - Milkweed Butterfly

The rising Brooklyn-based band, made up of Emily Borrowman (bass/vocals) and Atley King (guitars) and joined by the newly expanded lineup of Rudi Neubrander (drums) and Wilson Woods (keys), today announced that their new album, i’ll always wish, will be released on January 22, 2027. The band also shared the album’s urgent and chaotic lead single “milkweed butterfly,” alongside a Henry Nelson-directed video. Debuting via FLOOD Magazine, “milkweed butterfly” sees the band’s sound evolve, weaving together pop melodies, drum-and-bass-indebted drum programming, and beguiling shoegaze guitars. "Written from the perspective of a child experiencing anxiety and depression with no way to understand or contextualize those feelings, creating 'milkweed butterfly' was a way for Emily to make sense of the instability of immigrating to the United States,” explains Atley. “Beginning as a stripped down demo with midi drums, it was honed through multiple lineups of band members and finally perfected in the studio by Jackson Baker (witches exist). Heavily influenced by drum-and-bass music, it features a unique approach to blending jungle breakbeats, glitchy effected vocals and guitars with noise rock and shoegaze textures. After nearly a whole day in the studio spent meticulously programming drum breaks and sound effects, it finally arrived in its final form. Much like the butterflies mentioned in the song’s lyrics, its own transformation was complete."

Sheherazaad - Pakeezah

American singer-songwriter, composer, and theater artist Sheherazaad today shared her new single “Pakeezah” (translation: “Pure One”), an autumnal, gothic standout from her forthcoming debut album, Khudgarzi, due out November 20 via Erased Tapes. The follow-up to 2024’s globally acclaimed Qasr EP, produced by Arooj Aftab, Khudgarzi uses fantastical allegory and world-building to tell a story of feminine resistance. “To compose ‘Pakeezah,’ I wandered around old mughal ruins in Lucknow, India humming the melody,” Sheherazaad says. “At night, I'd stay up late at the historic Clarks Avadh–a grandiose, eerie hotel full of nostalgia for the city's former glory. I was trying to conjure up the ghost of the track: a woman who thinks herself pure before she realizes her own inner monstrosity. ‘Pakeezah’ specifically is about my relationship to purity culture, having grown up in a caste/oppressor background.” The new single arrives with a striking Vincent Moon-directed video featuring Sheherazaad and her ensemble performing “Pakeezah” in a unique live arrangement.

Dazy - Ugly

Dazy, aka Richmond, VA-based musician, songwriter, and producer James Goodson, today shared his new single “Ugly,” a soaring cut of big melodies and anything-goes production that somehow feels homemade and stadium-ready all at once. “Ugly” is the second single from the forthcoming MAXIMUMBLASTSUPERLOUD Vol. 2: 24 Songs From 2023-2026, a new collection of all Dazy’s singles and EPs released over the past three years, along with seven new songs. “I guess even though Dazy doesn’t sound like typical lone singer-songwriter stuff, I started to accept that it’s a solo project and understand what that actually means to me,” Goodson explains. “Writing songs is how I process my life in real time, it’s not something that I only tap into in the context of an album cycle. I like the way short releases are sort of like snapshots, but they’re all part of a bigger body of work to me.” It might be a bit of an unconventional route, but for Goodson, it was a more authentic way of channeling experiences into the songs. “A lot happened in the past few years–my kid was born, people I love passed away or got sick–just lots of real life,” he says. “When I listen to these songs I can really hear myself trying to figure it all out.”

Cursive - Wounded Animal

Cursive today shared their new song “Wounded Animal,” the band’s first new music since their 2024 album Devourer (Run For Cover Records). The song is featured on the original motion picture soundtrack for Who’s Watching, written and directed by frontman Tim Kasher. A full-song variation of the main acoustic instrumental theme used throughout the film, the taut and simmering “Wounded Animal” was sped up a bit and filled out with Cursive's trademark mix of disjointed guitars, keys, and cello. Who’s Watching (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) will be released on October 30, 2026.
