The Fray Bring Summer of Light to Milwaukee

Earlier this month, The Fray embarked on the Summer of Light Tour and stopped in Milwaukee at Landmark Credit Union Live for a packed night of music and community. Lately, between the heat, humidity, and now poor air quality, it’s not been great to leave the house. Even in these conditions, fans continue to show up for concerts and the artists with support and love for all that the music industry provides us. The venue began filling as soon as doors opened and continued to fill as the night went on.

Colony House was the first band to take the stage and the only one on the lineup that I wasn’t super familiar with. This band was founded by two brothers and has been steadily growing over the years in the alt-rock scene. Even though I wasn’t familiar with them, I know I saw some of the crowd singing along to their music. 

Next up was Dashboard Confessional and boy was I excited to finally witness them on stage. I had a little emotional moment in the side stage area and their set was everything I imagined. 

Finally, it was time for The Fray to come out. I saw them for the first time just last year at Summerfest. There was a different energy that night, it was as if another band came out, a different energy. Frontman Joe King came out in a sparkly shirt, walking behind the band as he went into singing the first song. 

It was dramatic and it made the room even more excited for the show. As the energy built, the band hit full stride as the room screamed the words back. King danced around the stage as the room sang their hearts out. After I left the photo pit and watched the rest of the show from the crowd, it was just a full night of togetherness. Bright stage lights bounced around the venue, illuminating every corner of the room. 

The Fray certainly brought a summer of light to Milwaukee that night and the tour is still going. Go for the music and stay for the fun.
