To be honest, this entire lineup was almost entirely bands I had only heard of from friends. But that’s okay because that’s one of the best ways to find new favorites. Erra and Currents have been co-headlining across the states with Aviana and Caskets. It might have been a Wednesday night, but Milwaukee was clearly ready for tonight as the room filled quickly before the first band even took the stage. The amount of impact that music has on people really drives me to want to be a part of this industry. The never-ending amount of support that fans show the bands is so cool, especially for the openers.

Aviana was the first act to play, and a co-worker of mine was at the barricade ready to head bang. This group came out and each member (except for the vocalist) wore a mask on stage. The masks and the moody lights gave the ultimate presence for them, and it was such a cool set to watch. I really enjoyed the overall aesthetic and sound they had. They’re also from Sweden, and international rock bands always win points in my book. I definitely need to catch this group play again. They were amazing!

Caskets was next and also an international group, as they come from Leeds! This group had such fire and energy on stage. Even while still being the openers, there was a giant mosh pit spinning in the middle of the room and people knew words to their songs. The crowd was singing along, cheering, and definitely encouraging the band that they were here for a killer show. I managed to snag a setlist from the band, and I love collecting memorabilia from shows.

Since this was a co-headlining tour, I wasn’t quite sure who’d be next, especially knowing that Erra had closed out the night in Chicago. There were setlists for Currents taped to the stage floor, which easily answered my question. This band was the only one on the lineup that I had seen before. They opened for We Came As Romans last October, and it was a great time. Their lights that night were much darker than I liked, so I wasn’t super happy with how any of my photos had come out. I was excited for a second chance to cover them and hopefully get better photos. The lights were all over the place and it was a fantastic set. They were amazing, and I definitely think my photos came out better this time around.

Finally, it was time for Erra. We were met instantaneously with a wave of crowd surfers from the start. The room did not come to play as everyone roared. Vocalist JT Cavey bounced around the stage, thrusting his arms to the air encouraging the energy to continue. The screens and lights on stage all matched the intensity of the songs, increasing as each chorus hit. Room lights flashed, highlighting the mosh pit and the number of people in that very room.

I was also fighting a mild sinus infection, so it deterred some of my own enjoyment from watching the entire show. Nonetheless, it was a phenomenal concert. The tour is still running for a couple more weeks so get up and go check out the show. You will not regret it.
