Eight years ago, a new tradition began for music and baseball enthusiasts, giving fans a reason to flock to Tempe, Arizona each spring to experience America’s favorite pastime in a whole new way at Innings Festival.
For the first time since its inauguration in 2018, the festival is returning to a three-day format, running Friday, February 20 through Sunday, February 22. Known for drawing a uniquely diverse crowd, Innings Festival blends live performances from artists across multiple genres with the chance to meet some of the greatest baseball stars of all time.
This year’s music lineup leans heavily into nostalgia, featuring artists like Mumford & Sons, The Goo Goo Dolls, Grouplove, Twenty One Pilots, Cage the Elephant, The Fray, Silversun Pickups, blink-182, Sublime, and Switchfoot. TArtists that dominated the high school soundtrack for almost all of us who were in school in the 90’s 2000’s or 2010’s.. That said, even if you were more focused on sports than perfecting a mixtape for your crush, Innings Festival still has plenty to offer.
Baseball fans can take a swing in the batting cages, test their speed pitch, and catch appearances from legends like Torii Hunter, Jake Peavy, Brandon Crawford, Mark Grace, and more. Along with the main attractions of music and baseball there are lots of local vendors offering themed food and drinks, as well as games to play and prizes to be won at the booths of brands that sponsor the festival.
Altogether, Innings Festival stands out as one of the best music festivals Arizona has to offer. It’s no surprise tickets are moving quickly, with Saturday, February 21 already completely sold out.
The festival’s success has also led to the addition of a bonus weekend each year known as Extra Innings. Taking place February 27 through March 1, Extra Innings brings a more country-focused atmosphere, highlighting artists such as Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Kane Brown, and Hardy.
