We had our first blindside of the season, but it was one no one saw coming. Going into the live eviction, the result was the most up in the air than at any point into the season so far. There were pros and cons to keeping Drew, Melody, and Lyric, something we saw head of household Haley, Dee, Angela, Devens, Kamu, and Chuk discuss before last night. What the Red Corner didn’t realize was that the three reality icons have already had the discussion of keeping Drew.

From the icons perspective, Drew was initially put up on the block because he was clearly playing both sides of the house and his game had turned messy. However, now that everybody knows he has both sides, there’s no benefit to him being the actual target, if the goal is to actually turn on the Red Corner. Drew can take the shots, so they don’t get blood on their hands.

If Drew were to win the blockbuster, the dominant alliance of six agreed to vote out Melody to guarantee the possibility of a Melody-Drew showmance was put to bed. Drew would win a Paw Patrol-inspired puzzle for the blockbuster, but the icons had other ideas of who to evict. Dee, Devens, and Angela side with LaTrice, Mallory, Drew, Barrett, and Taylor to blindside head of household (HOH) Haley, Chuk, Kamu, and Yash and send Lyric back to Rome with an 8-3 vote.

Non spoiler thoughts

  • It was only a matter of time before the three reality icons turned on the Red Corner alliance, but they had to pick the exact moment to strike, and they did just that. And now that Kamu and Haley had two back-to-back controversial HOH reigns, they are the main targets in the house, and they have people who will go after them not named the reality icons. The move also gives flexibility for Melody and Mallory to now work with the icons moving forward.
  • Lying is nothing new to Dee and Devens, who I do think are trying to play Big Brother (BB) similarly to Survivor with blindsides and leaving people out of votes, but BB is a different game. Moving forward, I’m curious to see how they navigate the game, considering there’s still nearly two months left.
  • Haley still doesn’t know who blindsided her HOH and believes it wasn’t Angela. So not only did the icons turn on the Red Corner, the Red Corner believes they turned on each other. The icons might have blown up two alliances at once, and the house has never felt as open as it has since Week 1. The line in the sand between the two sides of the house has now dissipated. 
  • Losing Lyric is not going to hurt the season, and I think she’s actually glad she got evicted, so her and Rome can watch the rest of the season together. Mallory and Melody were locked in as more of a duo anyway. Lyric really did turn on her best friends by throwing them under the bus to Haley, which wasn’t a smart move for anybody involved.
